This was one of our favorite film festivals to attend and winning the Audience Award, Best Film (tie) and Supporting Actress was the icing on the cake! We loved the venues especially their very impressive awards ceremony at the Getty! Thank you from the TURNOVER team for such wonderful memories at LIFF!

I submitted a film but this was the most confusing festival I have ever liaised with. I was emailed that my film was selected as a semi-finalist and I was sent a laurel but when I sought clarification I was told it was a semi-finalist for selection. Who needs a laurel for that? Who gets semi-finalist notice of selection? Either you are in or not. Communication for the festivals was quite incoherent and in the end I got another email to say my film as selected for the completion but it was too late for it to be screened. Most bizarre.

    Response from festival:

Danny we are sorry that you did miss understood the different between Simi-Finalist and Finalist. Your film was selected as one of the Simi-Finalist and not as finalist. Therefore as it was described at the same email you received only the Finalist would enter the final competition and LIFF only screen the finalist.

I didn't know what to expect from this festival because, let's be honest, a lot of festivals end up being quite small and unorganized. But this one.. WOW! It was everything a Los Angeles festival should be. It celebrated cinema BEAUTIFULLY. And with such a humble and economical benefit: the Lotus Light Children's Charity. I'm beyond honored to have received the award for Best Short for my film Cognitive because creating change is exactly why I made this film. And that's what the LIFF team is doing: creating the change they wish to see in the world. Thank you LIFF folks for hosting one of the greatest festivals I've attended! Can't wait for next year! :)

I have attended my fair share of film festivals with my films but I have to say this one is my favorite! Ata Servati and all the other people involved at the festival are wonderful people that truly care about cinema and the messages of love films have the ability to convey. The fact that all proceeds go to the Lotus Light Children Charity really says a lot about the festival and the people behind it.

My debut feature, the sci-fi drama 'The Bestowal', screened here and also won the Best Screenplay Award. It was a wonderful experience! Thank you and cannot recommend this festival enough!
