When I met my future husband in 1991, he asked what I wanted to do with my life. I said I wanted to be an auteur. More than thirty years later, I am doing just that--even if only on a small scale.
After a successful twenty-four-year career with NBC Los Angeles, Emmy-award-winning videojournalist Lori Bentley Law left the news business to turn her craft to more positive subject matter. At fifty-something years old, she went back to college, earned a Design Arts degree with a Film minor, and now works as an independent Creative Director for a group of historic properties, including a museum and art gallery. Each major show installed in the Winslow Studio Artists gallery includes an accompanying film. These true "one woman" productions are all created without any additional crew, from the story development, to the cinematography, editing, and even the music composition and performance. Unlike her work in the news business, the films Lori now makes are passion projects, highlighting her love of art, historic preservation, and the vast creativity of humans.
