Lorenzo Dickerson is a documentary filmmaker and founder of Maupintown Media from Charlottesville, Virginia. His films tell stories of historical, social and educational value.
His first film "The Coachman", a documentary about the life of his second great-grandfather (1887-1946), debuted in October 2014 and was an Honorable Mention at the Northern Virginia International Film Festival.
His film "Anywhere But Here" explores the lives of 13 African-American men incarcerated in Charlottesville, Virginia as well as mass incarceration. This film broadcast on PBS and was an official selection of the 2016 Virginia Film Festival.
Lorenzo has since directed Colorline of Scrimmage, Albeamrle's Black Classrooms and others. His films can be found in film festivals, online and broadcast one PBS.
