As a first-generation Vietnamese-American and a filmmaker, my journey in the film industry is deeply influenced by my unique cultural heritage and personal experiences. Growing up in Boston, I was constantly navigating the intersection of traditional Vietnamese values and contemporary American culture. This duality has provided me with a distinctive lens through which I view and tell stories, allowing me to bring a fresh and nuanced perspective to my work.
My diverse background is a source of inspiration and motivation in my filmmaking career. It compels me to explore themes of identity, belonging, and cultural intersection, as evident in my films like "Bound East for Cam Rahn" and "Home for the Night." These works delve into the complexities of the immigrant experience and the struggles of finding one's place in a new world, resonating with audiences who share similar journeys.
Additionally, my role as a director, writer, and producer in a predominantly underrepresented industry underscores my commitment to amplifying diverse voices. My latest project, "BREATHE," an enchanting animation that has garnered critical acclaim, reflects my dedication to creating content that not only entertains but also enlightens and empowers.
Graduating with a BFA in Film from Emerson College, I have honed my skills and passion for storytelling, always striving to push the boundaries of cinematic excellence. Currently, as a Producer at Dangerous Productions in South Easton, I continue to champion inclusivity and diversity in film, ensuring that stories from all walks of life are given a platform to be heard.
In essence, my underrepresented background and diverse perspective are integral to my identity as a filmmaker. They shape the stories I choose to tell and drive my mission to contribute to a more inclusive and representative film industry.
