Liton Paul is a filmmaker and wildlife cinematographer originally from Kolkata and based in the Indian Trans Himalaya region, where he has spent years capturing the beauty and harsh realities of life above 14,000 feet. With a background in wildlife filmmaking spanning over eight years, Paul ventures into fictional storytelling with his latest short film, "Nyingma...Through Her Eyes."
Paul's directorial debut, "Inside Out" (2016), won several awards in film festival , served as Director of Photography for "Radha-Biroho" (2019), earning the Best Cinematographer award at the 16th Kolkata Short Film Festival (2020).
His upcoming wildlife film, "Ballad on the Shore," which documents the journey of Olive Ridley sea turtles, Additionally, including a six-year longitudinal study of a snow leopard's life, which has just wrapped up production.
In "Nyingma...Through Her Eyes," Paul draws from his personal experiences living in the harsh mountain environment, crafting a poignant 'slice of life' narrative that not only reflects the lives of the characters but also his own.
