Lia Miranda Esparza, originally from northern Mexico, Chihuahua, moved in 2020 to Xalapa, Veracruz to enroll at the Luis Buñuel Veracruz Film School (EVCLB), where she pursued studies in various branches of filmmaking. During her time there, she collaborated with different people within the independent film community, with a particular focus on Production Design and its related areas such as makeup, special effects, and costume design.
In 2024, she directed her first short film, TUNA (2024), where she acquired essential techniques and insights that would later enrich her final student project, PoP! Soda (2026), presented as her thesis film for her degree in Cinematography. PoP! Soda (2026) is a coming-of-age short film that demands forgiveness from memory and celebrates the innocence of teenage friendship.
