Léa Luiz de Oliveira (she/her) is an award-winning filmmaker and producer whose work explores mental health and social justice. She has directed and produced films and music videos across the UK, Brazil, Turkey, Scandinavia, Europe, and South Korea.
In 2019, her BBC documentary Spit It Out led her to co-found the community organisation of the same name, dedicated to opening conversations around consent, mental health, and healing through creativity. She was awarded the EVOC Young-CEOs bursary and named one of YWS’s “30 Women Before 30” in 2022. In 2024, she joined the Creativity Pioneers Fund Leadership Forum, led by the Moleskine Foundation.
Léa’s recent directorial work includes the award-winning documentaries What It Means to Be, on trans* activism, and À la Folie, exploring the lack of support for carers in France. Most recently, she produced the BAFTA-nominated Friends on the Outside by Annabel Moodie and Mother's Influence by Meg Wriggles.
She is currently producing a new slate of documentaries, as well as her first drama, Bubbles by Jagoda Tłok, as one of the producers selected for the 2025 cohort of the NFTS Sean Connery Talent Lab.
