Laura Albritton was recently nominated for a 2023 NATAS Emmy (Suncoast chapter) for her work as the writer on the feature-length documentary produced by South Florida Public Television, The Florida Keys: Two Hundred Years of Paradise. The film premiered in January 2023 and has aired on 249 public television stations nationally. In addition to the documentary Longleaf Forever, she directed, wrote, and edited a conservation short film about a threatened species, commissioned by producers from the Georgia Dept of Natural Resources' Wildlife Division and the Longleaf Alliance, with support from The Environmental Resources Network (TERN). Her first documentary, Adventures in History, has been screened at regional film festivals. Laura is the author of award-winning short stories and five books on regional history and travel. She works remotely for the University of Miami's writing studies program. Before attending graduate school, she worked for Vanguard Documentaries and distinguished Black film producer Charles Hobson in Manhattan.
