This is the second edition of the Laughing Gas comedy film festival at Village Well Books & Coffee. In 2026, the Film Festival is merely the opening night to our larger Comedy Festival which expands across 4 nights with a variety of events. We're showcasing the best of local filmmakers, sketch producers and comedians.

This event is put together by Village Well in conjunction with Laughing Gas Comedy.

Food and drinks will be available for purchase in our world class café.

Awards & Prizes

At the end of the screening, the audience will be provided a link to vote for the winner in real time. The Grand winner and 2 runner ups take home a cash prize plus all the honor and prestige of the title.

Rules & Terms

We are looking for any and all comedic short films. Sketches, narrative, animation and experimental films are welcome. All submissions encouraged, as long as it makes our gut BUST!

The films selected will be screened on the day of the festival. Our selection is based on how funny, original and technically impressive the submission is. No films promoting hate will be considered.

    Laughing Gas is a fantastic festival! The community-focused nature of the event made it very easy to meet other local filmmakers. All of the films were great, lots of laughs throughout! Big thanks to Rod, Grant, the rest of the team, and everyone at Village Well!
