The Last Howl Film Festival

Below, you’ll see the rules and terms that you accept when submitting films, videos, and other materials to our festival.

Submissions
1.1a The Last Howl accepts submissions internationally. ALL films MUST include SUBTITLES in ENGLISH if their original language is not ENGLISH and credits at some point of the film.
1.1b ALL films MUST also include a synopsis and a poster when submitting or they could be disqualified. Trailers are desirable but not a must for now.
1.2 Respect! All submitted projects are guaranteed to be viewed and judged by the team;
1.3 Entry fees must be paid through our submitting platforms at the time of submission and they are non-refundable;
1.4 Multiple entries from the same submitter are accepted. A separate submission and a separate entry fee must accompany each entry;
1.5 Projects can be resubmitted in case they were not selected in the previous events;
1.6 Projects can only be submitted through our submitting platforms and must be available to view through such platforms. No postal submissions are accepted;
1.7 We accept works of any country in the world produced from January 1st, 2018 onwards;

Categories
2.1 All projects must be submitted in a digital format in the correct category respecting its length:
• Short Film: up to 50 minutes
• Short Documentary: up to 50 minutes
• Animation: Any length
• Feature Film: +50 minutes
• Feature Documentary: +50 minutes
• Video Art/Experimental: up to 30 minutes

ALL Official Selection films will compete for all of the awards!

2.2 If the submission of the project doesn´t follow these guidelines it will be disqualified automatically.
2.3 General submission: Feature - (+50 minutes)
Short - (-50 minutes)

Official Selection • Awards
3.1 ALL projects will be viewed and considered.
3.2 Your project will receive notification of its status on the notification date at the latest.
3.3 The Last Howl is not obligated to award a prize to the official selection films if they don´t see the quality of the product high enough.
3.4 Winners of categories will be notified privately via email after the notification date, but before the screening date.

Liability
4.1 The selected films will be promoted in English on our website and in our social media channels;
4.2 The Last Howl may use your film frames, trailer, and press pack material for promotional purposes on its website or social media;
4.4 The releases for all content including, but not limited to, music and talent must be obtained by the filmmaker;
4.5 The Last Howl is not liable for any copyright infringement or unauthorized usage;
4.6 By submitting a film, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Last Howl from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney’s fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, and loss of or damage to the screening videos entered;
4.7 The Last Howl reserves the right to make any changes in the festival configuration without prior notice if it is necessary.

Disqualification
5.1 Films submitted in the incorrect category are automatically disqualified;
5.2 Failure to meet the eligibility requirements will lead to disqualification;
5.3 Disqualification will not entitle a submitter to a refund of the entry fee;
5.4 If you withdraw your film from the festival, we will not be liable to refund any entry fee.

Acceptance of the bases
6.1 Participation in The Last Howl • Film Festival implies acceptance of these rules.
6.2 The Last Howl will promote the film to help the filmmaker gain an audience but it's not obligated to.
6.3 The Last Howl will offer free event passes to the key cast & crew of the selected project only. Passes include tickets for all films at the festival without any extra fee.
