Lara Orhon, a Turkish-American filmmaker, was born in Teaneck, New Jersey, and grew up in Istanbul, Turkey, in a family immersed in the arts. Her relatives worked as actors, designers, directors, and singers, creating an environment that shaped her early interest in storytelling and visual arts. As a child, Lara was particularly fascinated by stop-motion films and the distinctive styles of directors like Tim Burton, Hayao Miyazaki and Wes Anderson. Her initial foray into the arts was through acting; she studied theater for eight years at a conservatory in Istanbul and later at Stella Adler Studio of Acting in New York. While she enjoyed acting, Lara discovered a stronger passion for directing during these years. Her love for theater remains vibrant even as she pursues a career in filmmaking. Lara views herself as a storyteller first and foremost, a role she has cherished since childhood. Whether behind the camera or on stage, she is driven by a profound love for crafting narratives that resonate emotionally and intellectually with her audience. Lara is currently pursuing her filmmaking career as a student at the New York Film Academy.
