Laila Garroni is an afro-brazilian journalist, actress, and filmmaker based in Brooklyn, New York. She is the co-founder of the Evoé Collective, an all female artistic collective focused on promoting Brazilian culture abroad through cinema and theater. Together, they received 6 nominations for the Brazilian International Press Awards 2018, and were the winners of the Best Local Production category.
Laila also co-wrote and starred in the film Calidris, which had its premiere at the Munich International Film Festival in 2019.
