Lafia Documentary Film Festival’s (THEMED : Towards Environmental sustainability) promises to be an earthshattering experience for practitioners and others alike in Nasarawa State and beyond, what seems to be far and alien to our people will give birth in ecstasy. This is a time to create a platform for younger generations to experience the aesthetics of cultural rebirth, preservation and promotion through film; it is aseason for social engagement, exchange of creative commodities and value reorientation.
There is no gain saying that creative industry which film festival is pivotal, is the major exporter of people’s cultural heritages and what makes them unique, therefore, LADOFFEST is designed to be a meeting point between Nasarawa State and the international communities, culture and globalization, Elites and the peasants etc: this is packaged in one of its programs tagged “LADOFFEST mirrors Nasarawa” to showcase our dear Nasarawa State in film making.
Lafia Documentary Film Festival is not just a festival, but a movement for the stimulation of tourism sector in Nasarwa State and the middle belt in general. I beckon on you to come share in this experience. OLIVER OBUJE.
Lafia Documentary Film Festival (LADOFFEST) is an annual event hosted in Lafia; it is a minor of DAN-ENE MEDIA CONSULTS LIMITED (DMC), a fast growing indigenous media/ Production Company based in Lafia. The festival is documentary inclined premeditated on giving voices to young filmmakers, multicultural heritages of Nasarawa State and a source of recreation to the host city and its environs. Lafia is one of the fastest growing cities in Nigeria with influx of people from all works of life.
The State is estimated to have the population of about 2.8m people; as one of the emerging economies in Nigeria, with over ten (10) tourists’ attraction destinations across the thirteen Local Government Areas, these site have placed the State at the fulcrum of tourism, considering its proximity to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja.
Conversely, the tourism sector is not being explored maximally for economic growth of the State; the reason for this, is that even though Nasarawa State is endowed with beautiful recreational sites but are laying fallow. These sites, if harnessed in filmmaking would give a boom to economic well-being and attendant impact on employment creation.
In light of the foregoing, Lafia Documentary Film Festival (LADOFEST) intends to collaborate with other relevant State actors in tourism business and in line with the Nasarawa State government resolve in tourism development.
