La Danza in 1 minuto is a screen dance competition and screening event organized by COORPI in Torino, Italy open to international artists (film directors, choreographers, video-makers, dancers, musicians, sound designers, etc...) willing to accept the challenge of creating innovative, courageous short dance films with a strong cinematic impact and a provocative storytelling.
For this XI edition we are opening two competitions:
INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION ONE MINUTE
Applicants are invited to submit a one-minute dance film of any kind, as an expression of a contemporary story, through their own vision and/or reinterpretation of the body in motion.
This competition features an overall Best Film Prize and 2 special prizes:
- Special Prize 1 Minute Z Generation
with a special focus on young creativity, this prize is exclusively assigned to international applicants born on or after January 1, 1996 (<27). In case of collective authorship, it is mandatory that at least one among the authors meets the eligibility criterion mentioned above (<27)
- Special Prize Faune
The Faun, among the oldest mythological deities, is a fusion of Human with Nature. Half human half animal, it is in itself Indistinct. The prize is dedicated to the best contemporary 1-minute dance film reinterpretation of this mythological figure, drawing also from its celebrated 1912 Nižinsky/Debussy staging.
Online Audience Award
only for this competition we also have a prize awarded directly by the audience through an online voting system and a dedicated APP.
INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION - BEYOND ONE MINUTE | ZED FESTIVAL
Applicants are invited to submit international quality dance films with duration between 2 and 20 minutes.
Both competitions welcome short dance films with no genre restrictions (fiction, animation, documentary, cinematographic transposition of a live performance, hybrid). Nevertheless our special focus is on effective and coherent storytelling and its relation to contemporary global challenges. The selection of works in both competitions will therefore have as ruling criteria the effectiveness and consistency of an adequate dramaturgical proposal through the body in motion on screen.
Selected works can be considered for PRO|D|ES CARAVAN ( a selection from La Danza in Minuto + ZED FESTIVAL) touring program in the framework of the numerous Festivals partners and international ScreenDance networks.
COORPI is committed to use the films exclusively for cultural or educational purposes, never and under no condition for any commercial purpose. Artists will always be notified about screenings. The artists and their films will always be treated with the maximum respect they deserve.
INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION ONE MINUTE
This section is open to international applicants invited to submit one-minute dance films of any genre as an expression of a narrative about contemporaneity through their own vision and/or reinterpretation of the body in motion. Maximum duration admitted in 1’10” with credits.
Submissions will be selected by the artistic direction and then evaluated by an international jury of experts (off-line) for the Jury awards and by the audience (on-line) for the Audience Online Award.
We do not charge entry fees for this competition.
INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION BEYOND ONE MINUTE | ZED FESTIVAL
Focused on international short dance films in between 2 and 20 minutes duration. This competition section aims to showcase an heterogenous panorama on quality international dance films released no earlier than 2020.
This competition confirms its collaboration with ZED Festival Internazionale Videodanza, Bologna (Italy). The selected films will in fact merge into ZED Festival’ short dance film program 2024.
Submitted works will be selected by the artistic directors of both La danza in 1 Minuto and Zed Festival and evaluated by an international jury of experts for the dedicated Jury awards.
