La Danza in 1 minuto is a dance film competition and screening event organised by COORPI in Torino, Italy open to international artists (film directors, choreographers, videomakers, dancers, musicians, sound designers, etc...) willing to accept the challenge of creating innovative, courageous short dance films with a strong cinematic impact and a provocative storytelling.
For this XIIth edition we are opening two competitions:
INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION ONE MINUTE
Applicants are invited to submit a one-minute dance film, as an expression of a contemporary story, through their own vision and/or reinterpretation of the body in motion.
INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION - BEYOND ONE MINUTE
Applicants are invited to submit international quality dance films with duration between 2 and 20 minutes.
Both competitions welcome short dance films with no genre restrictions (fiction, animation, documentary, cinematographic transposition of a live performance, hybrid). Nevertheless our special focus is on effective and coherent storytelling and its relation to contemporary global challenges. The selection of works in both competitions will therefore have as ruling criteria the effectiveness and consistency of an adequate dramaturgical proposal through the body in motion on screen.
Selected works can be considered for PRO|D|ES CARAVAN (a selection from La Danza in Minuto + ZED FESTIVAL) touring program in the framework of the numerous Festivals partners and international ScreenDance networks.
COORPI is committed to use the films exclusively for cultural or educational purposes, never and under no condition for any commercial purpose. Artists will always be notified about screenings. The artists and their films will always be treated with the maximum respect they deserve.
INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION ONE MINUTE
This section is open to international applicants invited to submit one-minute dance films of any genre as an expression of a narrative about contemporaneity through their own vision and/or reinterpretation of the body in motion. Maximum duration admitted is 1’50” with credits.
