La Trace Festival – International Ski Touring Film Festival
Nestled in the heart of the French Alps, in the beautiful Aravis Mountains of Haute-Savoie, La Trace Festival is the first and only French film festival entirely dedicated to ski touring cinema.
From April 2nd to 4th, 2027, Thônes will become the meeting point for filmmakers, athletes, mountain professionals, outdoor brands and passionate audiences who share the same love for ski touring, mountains and inspiring human adventures.
More than a sport, ski touring is a way of experiencing the mountains: exploring untouched landscapes, discovering remote territories, challenging oneself, reconnecting with nature and creating unforgettable human stories.
Every year, La Trace Festival carefully selects only 12 to 15 outstanding films from around the world. These films take us on extraordinary journeys, sometimes in distant mountain ranges, sometimes closer to home, and tell stories of adventure, exploration, performance, resilience, friendship, hope and the deep connection between people and the mountain environment.
Our audience is made up of ski touring enthusiasts, mountain lovers and outdoor professionals, but also of curious spectators who simply enjoy breathtaking landscapes and powerful human stories.
La Trace Festival is much more than a film competition. Throughout the weekend, visitors can enjoy a vibrant Ski Touring Village featuring renowned outdoor brands, equipment exhibitions, workshops, talks and conferences with athletes, experts and personalities from the mountain world.
The festival also offers unique moments of connection between filmmakers and the audience. The opening night is a warm and festive celebration where directors, jury members and spectators meet, exchange stories and share their passion for mountains and cinema, followed by a DJ evening.
The 2027 edition will be chaired by acclaimed filmmaker Gaetano Naccarato, bringing his artistic vision and cinematic excellence to La Trace Festival.
The Official Competition awards three prizes, each with a €500 endowment:
La Trace Jury Award – €500
Audience Award – €500
My Top Randos Award – €500
Selected filmmakers will have the opportunity to present their work in front of an engaged and passionate audience, exchange with the public after screenings and become part of a unique community where cinema and ski touring meet.
Whether your film tells the story of an ambitious expedition, a personal challenge, an environmental issue, a remarkable achievement or simply the beauty of moving through the mountains on skis, La Trace Festival is the place where your story will find its audience.
Join us in Thônes, France, and become part of the international celebration of ski touring cinema.
