La Sur Real Film Festival provides spaces for dialogue between creators, stories and cinematographies coming from the different souths that inhabit and feed the world.

We invite shortfilms of max. 20 minutes in the categories of non-fiction, experimental, animation and multi-species.

We are looking for audiovisual works that speak of struggles, of the memory of the South, of exiles, conflicts, of the archives rescued from our silenced histories, those cinematographic creations that vindicate migrants, mainly in historically hegemonic countries, that highlight the existence of our bodies as autonomous political subjects capable of our own self-determination, masters of our own voice and thought.

The 2023 edition invites works that irradiate and generate new transformative imaginaries, moving us beyond the existing normative hegemonic versions.

We exhibit short films that propose a decolonial reading of the territories, mainly of Abya Yala, claiming our own emancipatory knowledge. We are looking for cinematographic creations that propose a critique of the existing relationship between the global north and south, question patriarchal white supremacy and share contexts that dismantle Western normative precepts.

We believe in the importance of sharing points of views that take up knowledge that has remained excluded, broadening the ways in which we perceive reality and therefore images; imaginaries that make collective identities more flexible, that integrate the material, the non-human and the animal as relational, generating different ways of linking ourselves even with the devices attributed to cinema.

Buscamos trabajos audiovisuales que hablen de las luchas, de la memoria del sur, de los exilios, los conflictos, de los archivos rescatados de nuestras historias silenciadas, aquellas creaciones cinematográficas que reivindiquen a las personas migrantes principalmente en los países históricamente hegemónicos, que resalten la existencia de nuestras cuerpas como sujetas políticas autónomas capaces de nuestra propia autodeterminación, dueñas de nuestra voz y pensamiento.

Creemos en la importancia de compartir puntos de vista que generen nuevos imaginarios transformadores, que se alejen de las versiones hegemónicas normativas existentes, que retomen saberes que han permanecido excluidos, ampliando las formas en que percibimos la realidad y por ende las imágenes; que flexibilicen las identidades colectivas que integren lo material, lo no humano y lo animal como relacional, generando distintas formas de vincularnos incluso con los dispositivos atribuidos al cine.

Exhibimos cortometrajes que planteen una lectura decolonial de los territorios, principalmente de Abya Yala, reivindicando saberes propios y emancipadores. Buscamos creaciones cinematográficas que propongan una crítica a la relación existente entre el norte y el sur global, cuestione la supremacía blanca patriarcal y compartan contextos que desmantelen los preceptos normativos occidentales.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

La Sur Real Film Festival is a non-competitive festival that invites artists and creators of audiovisual pieces of maximum 20 minutes to participate in the 2023 edition to be held in Berlin, Germany.

Our 2023 edition is interested in presenting authentic non-fiction, experimental, animation and multi-species works that represent bodies in resistance and narratives that take on the world in counter-hegemonic ways, stories related to solidarity, cooperation, diversity, gender, environmental/climate justice, territorial struggles, migration, exile and everything that is both inspiring and uncomfortable for the establishment in the different global souths.

We will also have a special eye on those audiovisual or film creations that are made in the framework of community film festivals in Abya Yala.

If you want to participate, it is important that you read the following:

1.Be on time. The call for entries is open from 15.04.2023 until 15.05.2023.

2.The meeting. July 2023 in Berlin, Germany.

3.Participants. Independent artists, producers, filmmakers and collectives of any nationality who own the rights to the works they register, over 18 years of age.

4.Premieres. There is no restriction on the exclusivity of the works submitted. They can have premiered in other parts of the world and beyond, have participated in other contests, festivals, screenings, and even be available online.

5.Timing. We accept works lasting a maximum of 20 minutes.

6.Formats. You can send your work in any format, celluloid, video or any other audiovisual support.

7.La Sur Real Film Festival will not select works that have a commercial purpose or concept.

8.Languages. The short films will have to have subtitles in English or in German in case it is not the original language.

9.Categories: Non-Fiction,Animation,Experimental,Multi-Species

10.Calendar. The production dates of the short film must be after February 2020.

11.You can submit as many short films as you want, for that you will have to fill in a separate form for each short film.

12.Selected films. The selection committee of La Sur Real Film Festival will make and announce the finalists during the month of June. The committee's decision will be final.

13.Exhibitions. The selected works may be screened within the framework of the festival in Berlin as well as in screenings in the same format anywhere in the world, with prior notice to the filmmakers.

14.Promotion. La Sur Real Film Festival may use fragments of less than 10 seconds of the selected short films for the production of promotional audiovisual products.

15.La Sur Real Film Festival will not be responsible for the content of the pieces in terms of copyright or licensing. It will be the responsibility of the person signing the submission for any legal implications or copyright infringement.

16.Communication. The directors of the selected short films as well as members of the crew undertake to provide, as far as possible, graphic material, interviews and news for the promotion and dissemination of the short films.

17.Confidentiality. La Sur Real Film Fest undertakes to use the material sent exclusively for private viewing. Under no circumstances will it be used for other purposes, nor will its projection be disseminated by physical, electronic or virtual means outside the events of the circuit.

18.Commitments. The committee of La Sur Real Film Festival is committed to screen all the submitted works.

19.La Sur Real Film Festival is committed to communicate the result of the selection whether they are part of the exhibition or not.

20.Acceptance of the rules: When you send us your data and the work in the form, it implies that you have accepted the sections of the present points, as well as the resolution by the organization of any problem not foreseen in the same.

21.When you accept the conditions you allow La Sur Real Film Festival and the organizers to use the information provided for the database for the communication. The information will be protected by national and international laws.

22.Registration. It will be totally free and online, through the Filmfreeway form.

La Sur Real Film Festival es un festival no competitivo que invita a artistas y creadores de piezas audiovisuales de máximo 20 minutos a participar en la edición 2023 que se celebrará en Berlín, Alemania.

Nuestra edición 2023 está interesada en presentar auténticas obras de no ficción, experimentales, de animación y multiespecies que representen cuerpos en resistencia y narrativas que asuman el mundo de forma contrahegemónica, historias relacionadas con la solidaridad, la cooperación, la diversidad, el género, la justicia medioambiental/climática, las luchas territoriales, la migración, el exilio y todo aquello que sea a la vez inspirador e incómodo para lo establecido en los diferentes sur globales.

También pondremos especial atención en aquellas creaciones audiovisuales o cinematográficas que se realicen en el marco de festivales de cine comunitarios en Abya Yala.

Si quieres participar, es importante que leas lo siguiente:

1.Sé puntual. La convocatoria está abierta desde el 15.04.2023 hasta el 15.05.2023.

2.La cita. Julio de 2023 en Berlín, Alemania.

3.Participantes. Artistas independientes, productores, cineastas y colectivos de cualquier nacionalidad que posean los derechos de las obras que inscriban, mayores de 18 años.

4.Estrenos. No existe ninguna restricción en cuanto a la exclusividad de las obras presentadas. Pueden haberse estrenado en otras partes del mundo y fuera de él, haber participado en otros concursos, festivales, proyecciones, e incluso estar disponibles online.

5.Duración. Se aceptan obras con una duración máxima de 20 minutos.

6.Formatos. Puedes enviar tu obra en cualquier formato, celuloide, vídeo o cualquier otro soporte audiovisual.

7.El Festival de Cine La Sur Real no seleccionará obras que tengan un fin o concepto comercial.

8.Idiomas. Los cortometrajes deberán ir subtitulados en inglés o en alemán en caso de que no sea el idioma original.

9.Categorías: No Ficción, Animación, Experimental, Multiespecies.

10.Calendario. Las fechas de producción del cortometraje deben ser posteriores a febrero de 2020.

11.Puedes presentar tantos cortometrajes como desees, para ello deberás rellenar un formulario por cada cortometraje.

12.Cortometrajes seleccionados. El comité de selección del Festival de Cine La Sur Real realizará y anunciará los finalistas durante el mes de junio. La decisión del comité será inapelable.

13.Exhibiciones. Las obras seleccionadas podrán ser exhibidas en el marco del festival en Berlín, así como en proyecciones del mismo formato en cualquier parte del mundo, previo aviso a los realizadores.

14.Promoción. La Sur Real Film Festival podrá utilizar fragmentos de menos de 10 segundos de los cortometrajes seleccionados para la producción de productos audiovisuales promocionales.

15.La Sur Real Film Festival no se hará responsable del contenido de las piezas en cuanto a derechos de autor o licencias. Será responsabilidad de la persona que firme el envío cualquier implicación legal o infracción de derechos de autor.

16.Comunicación. Los directores de los cortometrajes seleccionados, así como los miembros del equipo, se comprometen a facilitar, en la medida de lo posible, material gráfico, entrevistas y noticias para la promoción y difusión de los cortometrajes.

17.Confidencialidad. La Sur Real Film Fest se compromete a utilizar el material enviado exclusivamente para su visionado privado. En ningún caso se utilizará para otros fines, ni se difundirá su proyección por medios físicos, electrónicos o virtuales fuera de los eventos del circuito.

18.Compromisos. El comité del Festival de Cine La Sur Real se compromete a proyectar todas las obras presentadas.

19.El Festival de Cine La Sur Real se compromete a comunicar el resultado de la selección tanto si forman parte de la muestra como si no.

20.Aceptación de las bases: Al enviarnos sus datos y la obra en el formulario, implica que ha aceptado los apartados de los presentes puntos, así como la resolución por parte de la organización de cualquier problema no previsto en los mismos.

21.Al aceptar las condiciones autorizas a La Sur Real Film Festival y a los organizadores a utilizar la información facilitada para la base de datos para la comunicación. La información estará protegida por las leyes nacionales e internacionales.

22.Inscripción. Será totalmente gratuita y online, a través del formulario de Filmfreeway.
