The Louisville Short Film Slam takes place twice a year at the Speed Cinema in Kentucky, home of the 'Unbridled Spirit' – where spirits are free to soar and big dreams can be fulfilled! In this short film fest, the Louisville Film Society curates a program of films with local ties, which in most cases means films shot in Kentucky and/or made by filmmakers who are from Kentucky or live here now. Each film is followed by a 5-minute Q&A with the director or producer, and the night ends with a presentation of our $500 Jury Prize to the top ranked short film. Our enthusiastic audience includes Speed patrons and donors, LFS members, filmmakers and the general public.

WHO
For a film to be eligible, its writer, director or producer must be a native of, or currently residing in, Kentucky or Southern Indiana. The filmmaker submitting their project must be the director of the film or have permission from the director, have rights to use all content contained within the film, and give us a 4-week exclusive local window.

WHAT
Films must be 15 minutes or less in length and should be completed within the last two years. Narrative, documentary, experimental, music videos and more are all welcome. However, films must be completed works: Trailers or works-in-progress are not eligible. Films may not screen publicly within a 75-mile radius of Louisville, KY, four weeks prior to the festival date. Priority is given to newer, less-seen work.

WHEN
Due to the length of the program, we will not be able to accept all submissions, but encourage all to submit. There is a maximum of TWO submissions per person per Slam. We do not accept repeat submissions. You will be notified by email if your film has been chosen for the event, and we will then request a hi-resolution file be sent to us.
