Wonderful and necessary Festival! The organization was incredible, they made all the filmmakers feel at ease and enjoying wonderful talks, great encounters, and even a fun happy hour! A wonderful experience, I hope I have the chance to enjoy again

  • I had the best experience at LALIFF and would highly recommend submitting! The team at LALIFF genuinely cares about the filmmakers participating in their festival and went above and beyond to help us form relationships that would further our careers. I'm already pushing to have another film done in time so I can participate again next year. I can't say enough good things about Diana, Ana, Rafa, and everyone else involved.

I had my first feature film, Huracán, in their virtual 2020 festival, and I am so happy and appreciative for the LALIFF team and their efforts to both bring more awareness to the film, and to help me network with industry executives. The latter part specifically is a program I haven't seen done at other festivals, and they executed on it beautifully, pairing filmmakers up with development and production executives in TV and film, giving us the opportunity to pitch them future projects. Overall, very impressed and looking forward to further developing my relationship with the festival.

OMG! LALIFF just rolled out the red carpet for its filmmakers (literally)! Where do I begin? The staff and volunteers were fantastic, super communicative, friendly, and excited about the filmmakers work. The curated series of films was stellar. I was so proud and honored to have been selected among so many other talented LatinX creators! The red carpet event was epic. The theater was the iconic Mann Chinese on Hollywood Blvd. The festival put on some amazing parties with great live music (also showcasing LatinX talent), and tons of networking opportunities. Other than the screening itself and meeting the festival staff/volunteers and other filmmakers, one of the most valuable things about this festival was the Industry Day. An entire day planned to set up the filmmakers for success. With speakers from HBO and NBC/Universal followed by a pitch session with at least 40 industry professionals from agents, to distributors, producers, companies like Netflix, MACRO, Sundance, you name it! So so valuable. For the cost of submission (super affordable compared to some other festivals) LALIFF over delivered in every way. You could tell the festival took pride in itself and in the work it was exhibiting. There was also a FOTOKEM $20K post-production award which I ended up winning and I am so grateful for, as this will cover my post-production costs on my feature film! It was such a fantastic, nourishing, and inspiring experience, it raised the bar for what a Film Festival should be/feel like, and I am so honored and proud to be a LatinX filmmaker and to have had my work show at LALIFF!

LALIFF was an amazing experience. As a Filmmaker they created an amazing environment during an exclusive Industry day networking event where Executives from reputable and established companies met with you. The advice given by some was top notch on how to navigate forward, quite a few turned into meetings and running into friends only continues establishing strong relationships. The talent displayed was amazing to watch and know it's only going to be stronger next year.
