Kyle Hatley is a writer, director, and actor based in Los Angeles whose work explores the strange intersections of family, grief, the past, and how seen and unseen forces shape our lives. His short film Marbles enjoyed a strong festival run with over 50 official selections and more than 15 awards, including Best Writer, Best Director, Best Short Film, and Best of the Fest. The film will be available to watch online this Summer. Kyle’s feature screenplays include Children of Children, Lineage, and Special. He is currently developing the short film Passenger and the feature Fugue in A Minor. His short screenplays include Marbles, The Witchman Interviews, Lotus, Lineage, Riven and Queen of Hearts. His stage work includes adaptations such as The War of the Worlds, Frankenstein: A Ghost Story, The Death of Cupid, Master of the Universe, The Tragedy of Macbeth, Head, and Watering the Grave. A new version of Frankenstein: A Ghost Story was recently workshopped at Writers Theatre in Chicago. Kyle has directed the short films In Her Wake, The Witchman Interviews, Marbles, and Dreamheart. As an actor, his television and film credits include S.W.A.T., The Rookie: Feds, Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., Prison Break, In An Instant, As the World Turns, Soul Sessions, The Thinning: New World Order, and Skincare. He served as Associate Artistic Director of Kansas City Repertory Theatre from 2008–2014 and Resident Director in 2015. He is the Artistic Director of This Happy Breed and co-founder of Ghost Light Pictures. His screenplay Children of Children was a quarterfinalist in the Search for New Blood Screenwriting Contest and the Southern California Screenplay Competition. His short script Lotus was a quarterfinalist for Fresh Voices. He received the Ogle Award for his original audio series The Dead Girl and was named a Charlotte Street Foundation Generative Artist Fellow.
