David Campanella (Reggio Calabria - Italy, July 10, 1982)
After graduating from D.A.M.S. at the University of Calabria in 2005, under the guidance of Italian professor, director, screenwriter, and documentary filmmaker Luigi Di Gianni (Naples, October 20, 1926 – Rome, May 10, 2019), I moved to Turin to complete my master's degree in Film Language and Technique.
I have always been passionate about and studied cinema and its technological developments, with a preference for the horror and fantasy genres as metaphors and ideological thinking. I have made various experimental short films related to social reality, inspired by real events reported in the news.
At the same time, I have worked in various photography and video production studios as a director, cameraman, DOP, and editor, improving my technique and writing skills.
MAGNIFICENT CREATURE e VISCERAL my first professional short film, collaborating for the first time with an AI creator (Gianfranco Logiudice), which partially limited the problem of low-budget production and therefore allowed me to better express my cinematic vision.
I consider Magnificent Creature and VISCERAL as a hypothetical diptych of independent thriller-horror genre, self-financed but of excellent professional workmanship.
