Welcome to the Killeen Black Art and Film Fest, – where creativity meets creative wonders! In its fourth glorious year, this unique festival promises to be a dazzling celebration of black art and film.

As we enter our fourth year, the Killeen Black Art and Film Fest continues to shine a spotlight on the rich and diverse talents within the black community.

Event Highlights:

Artistic Extravaganza: Immerse yourself in a vibrant display of black creativity through a diverse collection of visual arts, including paintings, sculptures, and interactive installations. Witness the kaleidoscope of talent that reflects the depth and breadth of the black artistic experience.

Film Showcase: Explore the cinematic brilliance of black filmmakers as we feature thought-provoking films that delve into cultural narratives, untold stories, and inspiring journeys. Our film showcase aims to amplify voices that deserve to be heard, providing a platform for underrepresented perspectives.

Live Performances: Be captivated by live performances that span a variety of artistic genres, including music, dance, and spoken word. Our stage will come alive with the energy and passion of talented performers, creating an atmosphere of celebration and unity.

Workshops: Engage in meaningful conversations and skill-building sessions through our workshops. From discussions on the intersection of art and activism to hands-on artistic techniques, there's something for everyone looking to deepen their connection to the arts.

Join us at the Killeen Black Art and Film Fest, as we celebrate four years of creativity, community, and creativity that inspire us all. This promises to be an unforgettable experience that transcends boundaries and celebrates the power of artistic expression within the black community.

All selected films win Killeen Black Art and Film Fest laurels.

The Killeen Black Art and Film Fest committee (KBAFF) requires that all film, music videos and artwork is written, directed, or produced by Black filmmakers and/or artists; or prominently feature Black actors or musicians. Filmmakers and or artists of all races and ethnicities are welcome to submit their film, music videos and artwork but their subject matter must positively promote Blacks, the Black community and/or the Black experience. KBAFF strongly encourages filmmakers to submit their finished films.
Submissions are open to U.S. and international entries. Films and original music videos made in a language other than English must have English subtitles. Submissions must be the original work of the applicants (filmmakers & artists). If work is based upon another person’s life or upon a book or other underlying work, applicant(s) must secure any necessary rights to make such adaptations. However, it is not necessary to submit the adaptation rights agreements to the fest. Neither the fest nor its jurists investigates or attests to the authenticity of an applicant’s statement of authorship or rights secured. By entering the fest, you represent that you have secured all necessary rights, including but not limited to music, trademarks, logos, copyrights, and other intellectual property rights. KBAFF expressly disclaims all liability or responsibility for any violations of the foregoing.
KBAFF has no obligation (other than as stated in these rules or on our website) to disclose any of the following information: i) identities of screeners or judges; ii) notes, feedback, or information relating to the submitted project; and/or iii) details regarding the submission review or selection process. KBAFF has the right to select or reject any film or piece of artwork without explanation to the applicant.
Films/music videos need to have been completed January 2017 or later. There is no specific timeline set for artwork. DVDs and press materials will not be returned under any circumstances. Films may have been screened in previous shows & events. No refunds on submission fees.
KBAFF may use up to 2 minutes of all submissions, film & art, in a trailer for advertisement of the event.

  • Even though I was not able to attend I enjoyed the virtual experience. I think Killen did a wonderful job in an already technical difficult culture while in a covid 19 state of emergency. After Killeen corrected their small technical issue I enjoyed the entire event as a film director picked in the Killeen's Black film festival and as a attendee. I watched all of the other films and enjoyed them.

From Christopher R. Owens, President, CESO Enterprises, Inc. crowens@cesony.com:

On behalf of CESO ENTERPRISES, INC., Alyssa Dann, Chris Oledude, and all of our production participants, I would like to compliment the organizers and operators of the
Killeen Black Art and Film Fest. When we created our first music video (which was long enough to be a short film), we knew nothing about film festivals. With the help of FilmFreeway, we started researching. The categories were good. Everyone who contacted us on behalf of this festival was helpful. The submissions looked excellent.

It was indeed exciting to discover this new world and to be so warmly welcomed by the inhabitants!  To have GEORGE FLOYD: SAY THEIR NAMES selected for inclusion was an honor in and of itself. We were happy to “get the word out” and continue motivating people worldwide to consider the injustices embedded within our nation’s criminal justice system. After all, situations where a powerful segment of the population uses its law enforcement apparatus to abuse and oppress other segments of the population are recognizable in and common to many societies.
We recommend submitting your work and we certainly intend to participate again in the future. Peace and stay safe!

  • A HUGE thank you to everyone for doing such a great job with keeping the festival going during these trying times! The communication was great. The cast and crew of "Dignity" are so sorry we couldn't be there in person because of the pandemic but we hope to meet everyone in person next time. Thank you again!
