Kian Lawson-Khalili is a Danish-British-Iranian filmmaker, screenwriter, actor, and sound designer based in Denmark.
He began his career in front of the camera at the age of twelve when he was cast as the lead in the Danish television series *Theo & the Magic Talisman*. Since then, he has worked across film, television, commercials, and independent productions while developing his own work as a writer and director.
Alongside directing, Kian has extensive experience in sound design, sound recording, music composition, and post-production. Drawing on a background in music and performance, his work often explores identity, family, belonging, and the intersection between personal memory and storytelling.
His latest film, *How Apples Fall* (2026), is a documentary centred on his Iranian father’s upbringing and eventual escape from Iran, examining themes of heritage, migration, and the relationship between filmmaker and subject. Previous directing work includes *Candle-Bearer* (2025), *The Cross Giveth,* (2025), *The Tree Grows Weary* (2024), and *Please* (2024).
Kian studied at the European Film College and completed the first year of FilmEU's international Pathfinder Bachelor's programme before continuing his studies at Catalyst Institute for Creative Arts and Technology in Berlin.
