Kayla’s most recent short film, A Calling Home, took home Best Actress at RidgewoodIFF and Best Director at NewarkIFF 2023. Her exceptional talent was recognized early on in her career when her team won the Jury Prize and Golden Tripod at Terminus for their film Equus during her sophomore year at MassArt. Her thesis film, You Can't See Out, also garnered numerous accolades at film festivals in 2020.
Along with working on her own films, Kayla has freelanced as an AD, Grip/Gaffer, 2nd AC, and PA on both Narrative and Commercial projects. Some of these include The Break Up short film, Grave Disturbance short film, World Market Commercial, M12 Commercial, videographer for two 49ers football games, and feature film Mass Hysteria.
With her vast experience in film and life, Kayla's unique perspective is a breath of fresh air in the horror genre. She strives to push boundaries and reimagine tropes, incorporating experimental practices into traditional narrative. With her dedication to representing marginalized voices and telling compelling stories, Kayla is someone to watch in the world of horror.
