Katia B is a Brazilian singer and songwriter from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She has released five albums and two live DVDs. Her work blends contemporary Brazilian music, bossa nova, ethnic influences, indie and electronica. She is also an actress and a dancer. Her second album, “Só Deixo Meu Coração na Mão de Quem Pode”, (2003) featuring Egberto Gismonti, was released worldwide and got an excellent review by The Guardian. She also appears in “São Paulo Confessions, album from the Serbian producer Mitar Subotic (Suba). Katia B toured in Japan with the singer-songwriter Vitor Ramil and the percussionist Marcos Suzano and also performed live in England, France, Germany, Serbia, Portugal and México.Her latest collaboration, SAMBA NOIR (2015) it is an album/concert with Marcos Suzano, Luís Filipe de Lima and Guilheme Gê. The quartet plays Brazilian torch songs from acclaimed Brazilian composers. The album also features Arto Lindsay, Egberto Gismonti and Jards Macalé. In 2021 Katia B will release a new album, “Canções de Outro Mundo”, entirely with songs from the composer Antonio Saraiva.
