Kathy Janet Wieczorek, born in Germany, is an award-winning filmmaker and artist based in London, UK. With a background in Art History, Media, and Film Studies, she combines theory with practical filmmaking. Her work often explores the delicate boundary between fiction and non-fiction, incorporating elements of surrealism and probing the individual's role within society. Viewing film as a multifaceted art form, Kathy is dedicated to discovering innovative ways to tell stories and expanding the boundaries of filmmaking.
Her inspirations include filmmakers like Akira Kurosawa ("Yojimbo"), Takeshi Kitano ("Sonatine"), Chris Marker ("La Jetée" & “Sans Soleil“), and Satoshi Kon ("Paranoia Agent"). Beyond cinema, Kathy’s inspirations span various media, including Fine Arts, video games, and graphic novels, all contributing to her distinctive narrative style and artistic approach.
In addition to her film projects, Kathy works as an event, travel, and headshot photographer. As part of the Q Cumber Films team, she is also working as the 1st Assistant Director on their upcoming feature film.
