Katherine Gunning is a Portland-based photographer and award-winning filmmaker with a background in documentary storytelling and a deep commitment to care-driven creative work. Originally from the American South, her work explores themes of belonging, identity, and place.
Her work has supported a wide range of artists, authors, and mission-driven organizations, and she was the editor of the short documentary Architects of Another World (2025). Appalachian Understory and In Kind (2025) mark her directorial debut, and were part of her thesis work for her recently completed Master's of Multimedia Journalism at the University of Oregon.
