Oha, wie krass - es ist wieder so weit.

Das inklusive KLAPPE AUF! Team lädt Filmschaffende herzlich ein, ihre Kurzfilme einzureichen. Alle zwei Jahre findet das KLAPPE AUF! Kurzfilmfestival in Hamburg statt. Das nächste Mal Anfang April 2027. Wie immer barrierearm.

Das Thema: „OHA, WIE KRASS!“

Es kann eine Überraschung sein.
Oder Staunen.
Oder Überforderung.
Oder Bilder.
Oder Gerüche.

Vielleicht ist es aber auch eine Erinnerung oder ein Erlebnis.

Wir möchten wissen: Was bedeutet „OHA, WIE KRASS!“ für dich?
Welche Momente lösen ein „OHA, WIE KRASS!“ bei dir aus?

Kurzfilme aller Stilrichtungen können eingereicht werden, die in einem inhaltlichen Bezug zu unserem Festivalthema stehen. Du kannst das Thema dabei ganz frei interpretieren.

KLAPPE AUF! ist ein inklusives Projekt. Wir möchten, dass viele Menschen Kultur erleben können. Das heißt: Alle Filme des Festivals werden mit erweiterten Untertiteln und Audiodeskription gezeigt. Außerdem gibt es eine Live-Audiodeskription für die Geschehnisse auf der Bühne, die über Kopfhörer abrufbar ist. Zusätzlich wird das Festival von Gebärdensprachdolmetschenden und Schriftdolmetschenden begleitet. Alle Veranstaltungsorte sind barrierearm zugänglich.

Dem Festival ist es wichtig, die Filmschaffenden persönlich zu Gast zu haben. Eine Unterkunft sowie ein Reisekostenzuschuss werden ermöglicht.

Einreichungsinfos:
- Dein Film darf höchstens 25 Minuten lang sein.
- Dein Film muss nach dem 01.01.2024 erstellt sein.
- Die Filmsprache ist Deutsch oder ohne Dialog
- Kurzfilme aller Stilrichtungen sind willkommen.
- Das Festival findet im Metropolis Kino in Hamburg statt.
- Die Einreichgebühr beträgt 5 Euro.
- Einreichschluss ist der 01.05.2026.

No way! - it’s happening again.

The inclusive KLAPPE AUF! team warmly invites filmmakers to submit their short films. Every two years, the KLAPPE AUF! Short Film Festival takes place in Hamburg. The next edition will be held in early April 2027. As always, barrier-arm.

The topic: “NO WAY!”

It can be a surprise.
Or amazement.
Or feeling overwhelmed.
Or images.
Or smells.

Maybe it is a memory or an experience.

We want to know: What does “NO WAY!” mean to you?
Which moments make you say “NO WAY!” ?

Short films of all genres and styles may be submitted, as long as they relate to the festival topic. You are free to interpret the topic in your own way.

KLAPPE AUF! is an inclusive project. We want many people to be able to experience culture. This means that all films at the festival will be screened with Captions for Heraing Impaired and audio description. In addition, there will be a live audio description of the events on stage, available via headphones. The festival will also be accompanied by sign language interpreters and live captioners. All venues are accessible.

It is important to the festival to welcome the filmmakers in person. Accommodation and a travel allowance will be provided.

Submission Information
- Your film must not be longer than 25 minutes.
- Your film must have been completed after January 1, 2024.
- The language of the film must be German, or the film must have no dialogue.
- All film genres are welcome.
- The festival takes place at the Metropolis Cinema in Hamburg, Germany.
- The submission fee is 5 Euro.
- The submission deadline is May 1, 2026.

Rules & Terms

Due to the barrier-free production for all films of the festival in German audio description and SDH subtitles, the submitted films must be available in a German language version, or without dialogue. Films produced after Jan. 1, 2024, can be submitted.

Aufgrund der barrierefreien Herstellung aller Filme des Festival in deutscher Audiodeskription und SDH Untertiteln müssen die eingereichten Filme in einer deutschen Sprachfassung vorliegen, oder ohne Dialog sein. Es können Filme, die nach dem 1.1.2024 produziert worden sind, eingereicht werden.

TEILNAHMEBEDINGUNGEN

1. ALLGEMEINES
Alle Genres werden für die Wettbewerbe akzeptiert! Eingereichte Filme dürfen eine Laufzeit von 25 Minuten nicht überschreiten. Die Filme sollen in einen inhaltlichen Bezug zu dem THEMA "OHA, WIE KRASS" stehen, wobei das Thema auch im übertragenen Sinne zu sehen ist.

2. MODALITÄTEN
Die Online-Anmeldung muss bis zum 01.05.2026 uns zugesendet werden. Die Rechte des Filmes sowie für die Filmmusik müssen geklärt sein und liegen damit in der Verantwortung des Regisseurs.

3. AUSWAHL UND BESCHEID
Einsender*innen von Filmen, die für den Wettbewerb ausgewählt wurden, werden bis spätestens 1. Oktober 2026 darüber informiert.

4. VORFÜHRKOPIE
Es werden ausschließlich Filmdateien als Vorführformat akzeptiert. Wir möchten alle Filme in bestmöglicher Qualität projizieren. Wir bitten deshalb ein Full HD File (h264 oder ProRes422, mindestens 30 MB/s) bereitzustellen. Bitte keine 4K Dateien, keine Surround-Tonfassung und auch keine DCPs einreichen! Film-Datei uploaden (z.B. über Dropbox oder WeTransfer) Den Link kopieren (bitte keine Einladung zur Dropbox sondern einen Link schicken!) und an folgende Adresse mailen: orga@klappe-auf.com Weitere mögliche Vorführformate nur nach voriger Rücksprache.

Wegen der barrierefreien Bearbeitung der Filme mit deutscher Audiodeskription und SDH Untertiteln können wir nur deutschsprachige Filmeinreichungen akzeptieren. Filmeinreichungen ohne Dialog aus nicht deutschsprachigen Ländern sind möglich.

Die am Wettbewerb teilnehmenden Filme werden von uns für eine barrierearme Vorführung mit einer Audiodeskription und mit erweiterten Untertitel (SDH) versehen. Hierfür benötigen wir eine deutsche Dialogliste mit timecode, oder eine SRT Datei mit deutschen Untertiteln.
Die Vorführdatei darf keine Untertitel haben, da wir selber Untertitel für Gehörlose produzieren.
Für die Produktion der Audiodeskription und der erweiterten Untertitel (SDH) brauchen wir eine längere Vorbereitungszeit. Aus diesem Grund muss die Vorführdatei dem Festival rechtzeitig, bis zum 15. November 2026 zur Verfügung stehen, ansonsten kann die Vorführung nicht realisiert werden.

6. VERSANDKOSTEN
Die Frachtkosten für den Transport der Sichtungs- und Vorführkopie zum Festival zahlt der oder die Teilnehmer*in. Die Kosten für den Rück- oder Weiterversand der Vorführkopie übernimmt das Festival. Die Annahme von Sichtungs- und Vorführkopien, die dem Festival Kosten verursachen, müssen leider abgelehnt werden.

7. RÜCKVERSAND
Die Vorführkopien werden bis spätestens zehn Tage nach Beendigung des Festivals zurückgesendet. Achtung: Die eingereichten Sichtungskopien samt Anhang werden nicht zurückgeschickt, sie verbleiben im Festivalarchiv!

8. TEILNAHME DER FILMEMACHER*INNEN
Bei den teilnehmenden Filmemachenden bemüht sich das Festival um eine kostenlose Unterbringung für zwei Nächte, sowie um einen Reisekostenzuschuss.

Dates & Submissions

Films from all genres may be submitted from, 15th January 2026. "NO WAY" is the theme for our 7th KLAPPE AUF! Short Film Festival 2027 from 2.-3. April. The deadline is the 1th April 2026. The films should not exceed a maximum length of approx. 25 min., and must be available in a German language version, or the film must have been produced without dialogue. Films accepted will have been produced after 1st January 2024.
Regulations

Due to the barrier-free production for all films of the festival in German audio description and SDH subtitles, the submitted films must be available in a German language version, or without dialogue.

CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION

1. GENERAL
All genres are accepted for the main competition! All accepted films should run no longer than 25 minutes in length.

2. ARRANGEMENTS
The online registration must be sent to us by, 01th May 2026. The rights of the film, as well as the film music, have to be confirmed and are therefore the responsibility of the director.

3. SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION
Selected film submissions for competition will be notified no later than, 1th October 2026.

4. SCREENING COPY
We will only accept movie files in their proper screening format. It is our goal to present all films in the best quality possible, we therefore kindly ask you to provide a full HD file (h264 or ProRes422, at least 30 MB/s). Please do not submit 4K files, no surround sound, and no DCPs! Upload the movie file via (e.g. Dropbox or WeTransfer). Copy the link and send it to us (please do not send an invitation to dropbox, rather send a link!). Send the link to the following address: orga@klappe-auf.com. The option for alternate presentation formats is only accepted after consultation.

The screening file must not have subtitles as we produce subtitles for the deaf ourselves.

We need a longer preparation time for the production of the audio description and the subtitles for the deaf. For this reason, the screening file must be available to the festival by 15th November 2026.

5. METHOD OF SHIPMENT

6. SHIPPING COSTS
The shipping costs for selection and screening copies sent to the festival are to be paid by the sender. The costs for the return or forwarding of the screening copies will be covered by the festival. The admission of film copies which incur any costs for the festival, will unfortunately have to be declined.

7. RETURN SHIPMENTS
The copies for screening will be returned no later than ten days after the conclusion of the festival. Important: The submitted preview copies, including the links sent, will not be returned, they will remain in the festival archive!

8. PARTICIPATION OF FILMMAKERS IN THE FESTIVAL
For the participating filmmakers, the festival provides free two night accommodation, as well as travel allowance.

    It was very special to be part of the KLAPPE AUF! Short Film Festival 2025 in Hamburg. <3 The team was so welcoming and we loved the atmosphere of the festival. The cinema was full, the audience asked great questions and the moderation on stage was funny and informative. All the fims had audio description for visually impaired people. It was the most diverse audience we have ever shown our film to.

    The festival team had planned events around the films, e.g. a boat trip, which was great and a good opportunity to get in touch with other filmmakers. The award ceremony and party was a lot of fun (!!!)

    KLAPPE AUF! was a very enriching experience for me as a filmmaker. Thank you again for the opportunity! :)

    Exciting, interesting films, good conversations, a lovely trip on the Elbe 🛳️, delicious aperitifs 🥂- and of course the closing party 💃🕺 with award ceremony🤩 rounded off our visit to the festival perfectly.

    We loved this festival! It gave us the opportunity to meet people, we normally would have never met. We learnded very much about inclusive cinema, and the special needs of a divers audience. There were many other great films to see. The organisation was professional, and we were warmly welcomed. So we left Hamburg full of inspirations and great memorys. Thanks again for the invitation! It´s great what you guys do!
