Rules & Regulations

1) KIIFFA welcomes All International (all languages are accepted from all continents – subtitles in English are required), National and regional films of any production year, unreleased or released online or offline. Entries can be submitted here by following the Rules & Terms of the festival.
2) Festival online screening format is MP4/MOV. Other formats only upon request, depending on the platform.
3) Submissions in Festival will be divided into the following categories:
A- FEATURE FILM -
Duration - More than 60 minutes.
Fiction/Drama, Animation, Social awareness, Environment Support or other.
Different Subject, Theme Or Genre Of The Film is also welcomed (Define the Genre).

B- WEB FEATURE FILM –
Duration - More than 60 minutes.
Fiction/Drama, Animation, Social awareness, Environment Support or other.
Different Subject, Theme Or Genre Of The Film is also welcomed (Define the Genre).

C- CHILDREN FEATURE FILM -
Duration - More than 60 minutes.
Fiction/Drama, Animation, Social awareness, Environment Support or other.
Different Subject, Theme Or Genre Of The Film is also welcomed (Define the Genre).
D- WOMEN FILM –
D.1 - Feature Film -
It’s a Special Category. Feature Film must be either Produced or Directed or both by women.
Duration - More than 60 minutes.
Fiction/Drama, Animation, Social awareness, Environment Support or other.
Different Subject, Theme Or Genre Of The Film is also welcomed (Define the Genre).

D.2- Short Film
It’s a Special Category. Short Film must be either Produced or Directed or both by women.
Duration - Not More than 30 minutes.
Fiction/Drama, Animation, Social awareness, Environment Support or other.
Different Subject, Theme Or Genre Of The Film is also welcomed (Define the Genre).

D.3 - Documentary
It is a Special Category. Documentary must be either Produced or Directed or both by women.
Duration - Less Than 30 Minutes.
Biography, Social Issues, Environment Support, Inventions, Music, Cinema, Art, Craft, Textile, History, Architecture, Town Planning, Food, Sports and Others (Define the Genre).

E- SHORT FILM – (LONG)
Duration - Not Less than 5 minutes, not more than 59 minutes.
Fiction/Drama, Animation, Social awareness, Environment Support or other.
Different Subject, Theme Or Genre Of The Documentary is also welcomed (Define the Genre).

F- SHORT FILM – ( SMALL)
Duration - Less than 5 minutes
Fiction/Drama, Animation, Social awareness, Environment Support or other.
Different Subject, Theme Or Genre Of The Documentary is also welcomed (Define the Genre).

G- STUDENT FILM -
G.1- Feature Film-
Duration - More than 60 minutes.
Fiction/Drama, Animation, Social awareness, Environment Support or other.
Different Subject, Theme Or Genre Of The Documentary is also welcomed (Define the Genre).

G.2- Short Film-
Duration - Less than 30 minutes
Fiction/Drama, Animation, Social awareness, Environment Support or other.
Different Subject, Theme Or Genre Of The Documentary is also welcomed (Define the Genre).

H- SMARTPHONE FEATURE FILM -
Duration - More than 60 minutes.
Fiction/Drama, Animation, Social awareness, Environment Support or other.
Different Subject, Theme Or Genre Of The Film is also welcomed (Define the Genre).

I- SMARTPHONE SHORT FILM -
Duration - 1 to 20 minutes.
Fiction/Drama, Animation, Social awareness, Environment Support or other.
Different Subject, Theme Or Genre Of The Documentary is also welcomed (Define the Genre).

J- WEB SERIES -
Duration - Not Less Than 20 Minutes not More than 40 minutes.
Fiction/Drama, Animation, Social awareness, Environment Support or other.
Different Subject, Theme Or Genre Of The Web-Episode is also welcomed (Define the Genre).
One of the best web- episode of the web series must be sent for the judging purpose. This web- episode will only be considered for the award and will not be screened at the festival.

K- DOCUMENTARY - (LONG)
Duration - More Than 30 Minutes.
Biography, Social Issues, Environment Support, Inventions, Music, Cinema, Art, Craft, Textile, History, Architecture, Town Planning, Food, Sports And Others (Define the Genre).

L- DOCUMENTARY - ( SMALL)
Duration - Less Than 30 Minutes.
Biography, Social Issues, Environment Support, Inventions, Music, Cinema, Art, Craft, Textile, History, Architecture, Town Planning, Food, Sports And Others (Define the Genre).

M- MUSIC VIDEO –
M.1- Band
M.2- Solo artist
Duration - not more than 10 minutes.
Any topic, theme, subject, language or genre.

N- STORY/SCREENPLAYS/DIALOGUES - FEATURE FILM (Unfilmed)
Pages - 100 to120 pages in English only.
Font size must be 12 points and in courier type.
Pages should be numbered on the top right hand corner.
Any topic, theme, subject or genre.

Script/ Screenplay for an unfilmed feature length film (fiction) can be submitted in Pdf format. Script/ Screenplay must be registered with a specific screen writers association/ writers guild of the country of origin. Only registered scripts will qualify for KIIFFA Best New Feature Film Script/ Screenplay AWARD.

O- STORY/SCREENPLAYS/DIALOGUES- SHORT FILM (Unfilmed)
Pages - 1 to30 pages in English only.
Font size must be 12 points and in courier type.
Pages should be numbered on the top right hand corner.
Any topic, theme, subject or genre.

Script/ Screenplay for an unfilmed short film (fiction) can be submitted in Pdf format. Script/ Screenplay must be registered with a specific screen writers association/ writers guild of the country of origin. Only registered scripts will qualify for KIIFFA Best New short film Script / Screenplay AWARD.
4) Subtitles- Submission in all categories must have English subtitles. Films can be with dialogue, silent or without dialogue.
5) AWARDS AND PRICES- KIIFFA is a competitive Film Festival with awards, trophies and cash awards in different categories finalised by the festival panel and jury.
5A- Receiving the film entries by KIIFFA (provided by nature and number of films), the jury reserves the right to add/ delete or create any of the awards categories.
5B- The selection panel and jury’s decision shall be considered final and cannot be challenged under any circumstances. Organisers/management of the Festival shall determine selections and award winners at their sole discretion. KIIFFA festival committee’s decision regarding all matters (including but not limited to the expressions provided in the “rules and regulations’) or any clause that require interpretation shall be final and acceptable to the applicant/ participant.
5C- If participant/ entrant requests not to screen their Web- Episode of the Web Series or Music video, it will not be screened but shall be considered for Award for sure at KIIFFA.
6) EXTENDED DEADLINE for submissions –
15 October to December 14, 2021

7) SUBMITING ENTRIES –
Feature Film/Short Film/Web Film/ Web Series/Smart Phone Film/ Documentary/ Music Video/Script can be submitted directly to KIIFFA online or by courier. All the entries can be submitted by courier on pen drive or by uploading complete film online in full HD, aspect ratio 16:9, MP4 file Format (codec H.264) with burnt in subtitles on Vimeo, YouTube or Google drive and sending us Link URL and password if protected or giving access. Please do remember to enable download option on these platforms. For Feature Film category, a Film’s trailer – duration up to 2 minutes is required on Pen drive or Vimeo/ You tube link.
7A - Participants can send multiple entries in any category by creating a separate new account with new user name (new email) and new password for each film/category and must mention about his/ her all other submissions in each & every account. Entry Fee will be required for each film/category.
7B - Poster and Synopsis of the film (max 200 words) must be uploaded with the entry. If any agency is submitting on Producer's/ filmmaker's behalf, their (Producer's/ filmmaker's) direct contact details must be provided for the notifications.
7C - The selected participant will be requested to send the publicity material and screening copy, once the film is shortlisted for festival screening/ Award. He/ She must send it as soon as possible when required. Participant will also receive an email with detailed instructions regarding screening format.
7D - All films should be without advertisement for final screening.
8) Free social media publicity and advertising to all the officially selected submissions, worth thousands of Rupees/Dollars will be provided to participants by KIIFFA. Although to promote any film on its sole discretion is the festival management’s right and this cannot be challenged or claimed by any participant.
9) Once entered, submission cannot be withdrawn from participation at KIIFFA under any circumstances.
10) Notification of selections will be announced on the official website/social media platforms as per schedule (tentative date - 15-March-2021 for the KIIFFA).
11) Films/ Entries under all categories, once submitted cannot be withdrawn/ cancelled from participation at KIIFFA under any circumstances. Submission/ Entry Fee is Non-Refundable. Any other payment once made to KIIFFA, will not be refunded under any circumstances. If any false information about the film is provided by the submitter, entrant or Filmmaker, KIIFFA reserves the right to disqualify or cancel the film from being considered or screened. In this case, submission/ entry fee shall be forfeited and will not be refunded.
11A - Delegate fee (if any) is non – refundable.
11B – Opening Screening Film fee, Closing Screening Film fee and Paid Screening Fee is non – refundable.

11C – Sponsor fee is non – refundable.

11D - Any other fee or payment once made to KIIFFA is non – refundable
except the cancellation of the festival. However if the festival gets cancelled due to natural calamities or unforeseen circumstances, cancellation will not be considered as cancellation by the festival organizers.
12) Filmmakers/delegates of shortlisted films/ scripts/ music videos/ documentaries/ all categories will be invited to attend the KIFFA festival. Although for travel/ stay expenses/ boarding/ lodging/ conveyance of the participants will not be arranged or reimbursed by festival. Filmmakers/delegates shall be provided assistance in booking their hotel rooms at discounted rates with the selected hotels by KIIFFA.
13) Shipping and Insurance: All costs, if any, related to the shipment of the film, publicity, promotional and photographic material to and from the KIIFFA will be borne by the participants.
13A) Awarded, Prizes, Certificate – if any duty, fee and charges accrued from the transporting of the trophy will be covered by the recipient, not the Festival organizers.
14) Filmmakers/ Production Companies/ Participants may contact KIIFFA for the promotion/ online promotions of their film, their Logo/ brands etc during the festival event. Please email to " festivaldirector@kiiffa.com" with the subject "Promotions." A detailed information will be provided to you regarding this.
15) OFFICIAL SELECTION ANNOUNCEMENT IN 2022

17) KIIFFA reserves the right to accept or refuse any film without mentioning any reason and cancel or change the scheduled dates. Films selected at KIIFFA may not be screened if the Entrant/ Submitter request it not to be screened or if it fails to fulfil other formal requirements.
18) Only invited films can be submitted with Submission Form at KIIFFA. For these films, Press Kit must be email to -"festivaldirector@kiiffa.com"
19) To prevent any misuse and piracy, Pen drive/DVD/Hard drive of the films will not be returned once submitted.

KIIFFA is a competitive Festival with cash awards, trophies and awards in-kind in different categories finalized by the festival panel and jury.
DECLARATION
A- By submitting work to KIIFFA the filmmaker/producer/submitter/entrant accepts & takes the whole responsibility of copyright issues of music, script and other creative and technical aspects of the film and for the accuracy of the information supplied and authorises KIIFFA to reproduce & use personal/company's contact information as supplied. The submitter/entrant confirms to have the requisite authority or has obtained the requisite authority from the producer / copyright holder and all concerned authorities to enter, screen and publicise the film in KIIFFA and permits complimentary use of DVD/Soft Copy of the film & trailer submitted for multiple screenings by KIIFFA during the festival dates at any and all primary and satellite venues of KIIFFA and make available the print for screening. KIIFFA is not answerable/ responsible to any legal issues/ copyright regarding submitted work and not liable to pay any royalty/fees.
B- Scripts/Screenplays must be the original creative work of the submitter/ entrant / applicant(s).
C- Submitter/ entrant / applicant(s)/ must secure necessary rights to make adaptations if based upon on a book/ other underlying work or another person’s life. Although it is not necessary to submit rights agreements to the festival. Festival does not attest the authenticity of statement of authorship or rights secured by Submitter/ entrant / applicant(s)/. By submitting Scripts/Screenplays in festival, Submitter/ entrant / applicant(s)/ acknowledges that all necessary rights have been secured by him/her.
D - The submission of work and any material (including but not limited to audio, video, graphics, and / or text ) implies that the applicant / participant agrees to indemnify, hold harmless, and defend the festival committee (including but not limited to its employees, directors, representative, and affiliates) from any liability, claims, and damages in connection with the submission and from any fees and expenses (including but not limited to any legal advisor/ lawyer’s fees) that any of them may incur in connection therewith.
