【REGISTRATION AND SUBMISSION】
-Registration Process
Entrants are obliged to complete the registration process and submit the required materials.
1. Submission:
a. Please create a FilmFreeway account if you do not already have one.
b. Click Submit Now on KDIAF’s FilmFreeway website to enter (https://filmfreeway.com/KDIAF).
c. Follow website instructions and fill in your film(s)’s information:
-Project Title
-Synopsis
-Distribution (School, Company, or Independent)
-Credits (Directors, Producers, Writers and others)
-Duration
-Completion Date
-Country of Filming (represents the country or countries of production)
-Language
-Upload/Link
-Still Photos
-Subtitles/Script
-Film Rating
-Contact Information (Email, Phone, FB, IG)
2. Required Materials:
Submit your film through the KDIAF FilmFreeway website (https://filmfreeway.com/KDIAF).
I. A digital copy of your film is needed for preview. Preview Format: (at least) 1920 x 1080 MP4 (Codec H.264), MOV. WE DO NOT ACCEPT BLUE-RAY AND DCP.
II. One photo of the director in JPEG format with a file size under 5MB.
III. Three stills, JPEG format with under 5MB file size.
IV. Except for works without dialogue, the films with dialogue must include English subtitles and provide the text file. If the film contains Chinese dialogue, please provide Chinese subtitles in Traditional Chinese. For videos without English audio, bilingual subtitles containing the original text are allowed. (File formats are limited to PDF, DOC, DOCX, TXT, SRT, or ODF.)
*If you choose to upload files to FilmFreeway, the recommended file size is no more than 10 GB.
*If providing video links, please use websites that support online viewing and allow authorized downloads, such as Google Drive or Vimeo.
*If the video is set to private, please be sure to include a valid password for review purposes.
【NOTICE】
1. The animation must be completed. Unfinished animation will not be included in the preliminary review. Modification the film(s) or changing the title after submission will not be accepted.
2. The information provided by the entrants will be used for the nomination announcement, the winner announcement, the promotion announcement, and the awarding ceremony. Entrants should be responsible for any errors or omissions of the information.
【SELECTION AND JURY】
1. The list of nominees will be announced on KDIAF’s official website on September 1, 2026. Entrants will be notified of their film’s jury status via FilmFreeway.
2. The nominees must provide a complete film copy by the informed deadline. Suppose an entrant fails to comply with the submission requirement under regulations, including deadlines and formats. In that case, the competition team reserves the right to consider it a voluntary withdrawal of their place.
3. The Jury Board panel comprises animators, filmmakers, scholars, and experts who will view and select each category’s winners. The winning films will be announced at the awarding ceremony, and the KuanDog bronze trophy and prize money will be awarded.
【DUTIES AND OBLIGATIONS】
1. By entering, each entrant declares to be the author or the rights owner of the film(s) in competition and owns all the literary, dramatic, and musical rights. If the film(s) is(are) found to be involved in breaching the copyright at any level, KDIAF reserves the right to revoke the award. Any copyright disputes resulting from the film’s exposure and screening shall be the entrants’ full responsibility.
2. The entrants agree to grant the 2026 KDIAF and any affiliated or authorized third parties without recompense the right to edit or reproduce the submitted film for promotion purposes, including but not limited to adding Chinese or English subtitles or cutting a clip version for promotion. Once selected, entrants grant the KDIAF and the Animation Department of TNUA the right to use the text, stills, posters, and information on the personnel for promotion, related events, and documentation for the competition.
3. The entrants agree to grant the 2026 KDIAF without recompense the right to screen their work physically and/or online during the festival’s duration.
4. KDIAF will decide whether to conduct an online screening based on the circumstances of each year. The screening will be region-restricted and only available to viewers in Taiwan.
5. The winners and the nominees may decide whether to agree to declare the film’s rights to KDIAF for non-commercial screenings for physical events until December 31, 2027.
6. Entrants must provide a film copy during the festival deliberation (From April 20 to November 15, 2026).
7. Participants registering in the Student Category must indicate whether they agree to also participate in the "Taiwan International Student Design Competition (TISDC)" (https://www.tisdc.org/). If consent is given, TISDC will contact the participant regarding the details of the participation.
【TERMS OF ACCEPTANCE】
1. By submitting to KDIAF 2026, the entrants accept, without reservation, the terms of the present regulations as stated in this document.
2. All prize awards should comply with the Taiwanese Income Tax Law. The cash prize and trophy would be given to the director unless the director designated another recipient. If the winner does not reply within six months after being informed, the cash prize and the trophy will be withdrawn.
3. The Rules and Regulations are printed in Chinese and English. In a dispute, the Chinese content is considered for interpretation and understanding and is governed by Taiwan’s (R.O.C.) laws. The entrants must agree that the Taiwan Taipei District Courts are the court in the first instance.
【KDIAF × TISDC SPECIAL PROMOTION】
Students interested in international competitions are cordially invited to participate. Those considering applying to TISDC are encouraged to prepare in advance.
