Justin Hunt is an award-winning writer, producer and director whose films have been distributed in over 90 countries in more than a dozen languages. Be it narrative or documentary, his stories have been acclaimed around the globe for challenging audiences and inspiring thought, action and change.
Covering topics such as meth addiction, absent fathers, porn addiction, social media crime and, most recently, grooming and sexual assault in public schools, Justin isn’t afraid to take on heavy topics that need to be addressed.
Over the years, his production company, White Whale Pictures, has brought home over 100 film festival trophies from around the world, including Best Feature, Best Screenplay, Best Thriller, Best Documentary, Best Director, Best Producer, Best Cinematography, and many more superlatives from respected festivals of all shapes and sizes.
A former journalist for NBC affiliates, Justin won over 40 broadcasting awards in his nine years with the network, including three times being named ‘News Reporter of the Year’ in a four-year span by the New Mexico Broadcasters Association.
He has seven feature films under his belt as a writer, producer and director, including his most recent documentary, 'Rotten Apple', which has already garnered several 'Best Documentary' awards and numerous 'Best Director' wins and nominations for Justin.
His previous narrative film, 'The Post', won nearly 20 festival awards worldwide before a strong theatrical run and distribution was secured in territories including the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, Latin America, South Korea, Germany and Japan.
In 2025, his dramatic teleplay pilot, 'The Observer', was selected as a semifinalist at the world-renowned Austin Film Festival Screenplay competition, reaching the top 32 scripts out of nearly 12,000 submissions.
His latest feature narrative screenplay, 'Symbiosis', won 'Best Feature Screenplay' at the prestigeous Days of the Dead Film Festival, The Wolf Media Festival, 'Best American Screenplay' at the Tokyo Screenplay Awards, and is a quarterfinalist or better in 18 other festivals worldwide, including the Vail Screenplay Competition.
It was also given an overall score of 8/10 by the London Screenplay Competition coverage team, with a Marketability Score of 9/10, and the Austin Film Festival proclaimed the script "shows a tragic downfall in a way that's never been done before."
