Junk Dump Film Festival is a live event that takes place annually at Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria, Queens.

Dates and more info coming soon.

Junk Dump Magazine is a print publication and non-profit arts organization dedicated to promoting and supporting underrepresented artists. Since 2021, Junk Dump has presented a curated selection of short art films at our annual film festival in New York City. We accept submissions of all genres, with a maximum duration of 20 minutes.

We prioritize local, emerging filmmakers in our selection process.

We are accepting short film submissions of any genre, with a maximum duration of 20 minutes.

All original submissions will be viewed and given equal consideration. All decisions of programmers are final. We do not accept resubmissions from previous years unless significant changes have been made to the film. Although we love to review your work, we can only accept one submission per artist as we receive several submissions each day.

If selected as an Official Selection, projects are to be uploaded through FilmFreeway unless given specific permission by Festival Director to be submitted by other means. Lack of compliance may result in rescinding of Selection Offer.

All entered films grant Junk Dump Film Festival a non-exclusive limited-use agreement to use selected portions of films chosen for competition and/or to use film promotional materials to promote the festival, including the rights to utilize any excerpt from any film submitted and accepted for exhibition at Junk Dump Film Festival for promotional purposes and/or on Junk Dump’s website. Filmmakers fully retain all rights, titles, and interests in their films and all intellectual property.

By agreeing to these Terms and Conditions, you certify that you hold all necessary rights for the submission of this film and have read the regulations.

A truly special festival, from the amazing location at the Museum of the Moving Image, to the thoughtful and supportive team behind it all, I can't recommend Junk Dump enough. The work shown was brilliant and cohesive with the other films, with a small enough selection lineup that it felt intimate and personal. Everyone at the festival (as well as the Museum staff) were also so, so kind. Definitely one of the strongest little fests out there!

JunkDump is great. It's a small festival but the people behind it are passionate and they put a lot of care into it. They make sure to screen films, foster community and make the artist and the audience feel valued. It's what any film festival should be!
