A veteran documentarian for ABC, CBS, HBO and Discovery Channel, Joseph Lovett has raised awareness of critical health issues throughout his career. After producing the first investigations on AIDS for ABC's 20/20, Lovett created IN A NEW LIGHT (ABC) a series of annual AIDS outreach and entertainment specials. In 2001, Joe's CANCER: EVOLUTION TO REVOLUTION and outreach for HBO won a Peabody Award and an Emmy nomination. Lovett Stories and Strategies has produced over 35 hours of programming for prime time television and award-winning independent films that inform, inspire and compel people into action.
In 1989, Lovett opened Lovett Productions and released his films GOING BLIND and CHILDREN OF THE INQUISITION, which have both won numerous awards and been recognized and utilized by a plethora of universities and community organizations.
Since 2014, he has been the president of A Closer Look, Inc, a nonprofit organization that creates and proliferates creative media & interactive expert-led discussions and workshops around trauma focused themes. Under this organization he released his first animation SOMETHING TERRIBLE HAPPENED TO JOEY and is working on the release of his second MEDITATION ON A SHOESTRING.
