José Paulo Santos was born in Coimbra in 1979 and lives in Matosinhos (Portugal). Since 2013 he has been dedicated to independent cinema. He directed the films "...beyond the waiting room" which are part of the National Cinema Plan, "Circunstâncias", "Observador", "13H" and "1965 | Panreal, a building by Nadir Afonso". The films were shown at more than 200 International Film Festivals, having won more than 250 International Awards.
Occasionally he is a jury member at International Film Festivals.
He is currently a doctoral student at the University of Vigo where he is directing a film about the poet Avelino Díaz, in a production between Galicia and Argentina.
