Johnny Schaefer is an award-winning, eclectic Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter. He has a BA in Music (Composition and Voice) from California State University, Fullerton. He has sung backup for Melissa Manchester, Josh Groban, Sarah Vaughan, Sarah Brightman, Pete Townsend, Billy Idol, Diahann Carroll, and others. He is joined on his song You Can’t Hide the Light by GRAMMY® Award-Winner Melissa Manchester, fulfilling a decades-long dream. The song is the winner of the prestigious UK Songwriting Contest in the “Best Original Song” category, a special joint venture with Music Aid International. The UKSC had more than 6,500 entries in 2021 from 80 countries. In addition, Johnny has been a Semi-Finalist in ten categories in the 2020 and 2021 contests, and a Finalist in three categories. He has collaborated with Producer Stephan Oberhoff (Heartbeat Brazil), Bram Stoker Award-winning author and lyricist Elizabeth Massie, best-selling author Marianne Williamson, jazz harpist Carol Robbins, Christoph Bull, Paul the Trombonist, Steven Cagan, composer Michael J Lewis, Gary Stockdale, Chad Ellis, and composer Lynn Kowal. He has sung on projects as diverse as children’s records, musical theater, and opera. He was a cantor and soloist at Blessed Sacrament Church in Hollywood, CA from 1981 to 2021. Johnny has two albums. Acoustic Remedy is an eclectic mix of mostly original tunes. From Here to Nativity is a Christmas album taking the listener from Advent through Epiphany. Seven of the songs are original and seven are classics. His recent singles are currently digital releases but will be part of a forthcoming album. Johnny is married to Videographer Paco Silva and has been active in the LGBTQ arts community.
