John believes movies and story can bring people together and is interested in film that encourages laughter and joy.
John was born in Germany to Russian parents and grew up in Australia.After watching old Al Pacino and Jackie Chan movies, he was inspired to pursue film in directing, acting and comedy. He moved to Vancouver, Canada and studied theatre and film, and won a Jessie Richardson Award for his acting. After directing his first project, a music video for 'Party - Jon Bryant' he followed up with another one for 'Identivacation-Jordan Klassen. John is currently editing his documentary 'Laughing Matters', where he travelled across the world interviewing comedians about the relationship between comedy and culture.
