John Hulme is an author, screenwriter, and filmmaker from Highland Park, NJ. His first feature length documentary, "Unknown Soldier: Searching For A Father" -- about his quest to know his father, who was killed in Vietnam before they ever had the chance to meet – premiered on HBO's America Undercover in 2005. " Unknown Soldier" also won Best Documentary at the 2003 Rhode Island International Film Festival. His new documentary, "Blood, Sweat & Tears: A Basketball Exorcism," won the Youth Jury Award for Best Documentary at the 2016 Flickers Rhode Island International Film Festival. Hulme is the co-author of five books, most recently, "The Seems" -- a trilogy of fantasy novels from Bloomsbury Children Books. In addition, he has created projects for Microsoft, National Public Radio, XM Radio, MTV, Doubleday, and Fantasy Records. Hulme recently received a grant from the New Jersey Council for the Humanities to create the "Highland Park African American History Project," working with high school kids to create a multimedia archive/oral history of their hometown's black community. The Project's first short film, "Blacked Out," screened at multiple festivals, and won the Best Youth Film Awards at the Harlem and Flickers Rhode Island International Film Festivals.
