Born in 1983, grew up in Toggenburg (Switzerland). From 2004 to 2010 Joël Jent pursued a program of study in film, politi- cal science, philosophy and social/economic history at University of Zurich, which he completed in 2010 with a Master of Arts degree. He then worked briefly as a journalist. Since 2003, Joël Jent has written and produced several short- and feature films, including films under his own direction. He produced the feature films „The Saint of the Impossible“ (2021), “Baghdad in my Shadow” (2019) and 3D-documentary “Iraqi Odyssey” (2014) as well as the short films “Bon Voyage” and “Facing Mecca” (Stu- dent Academy Award winner 2017). Joël Jent lectures at Zurich Art University and is a member of the European- and the Swiss Film Academy and he is alumni of the Zurich Academy Class (2006), the EFP Producers on the Move program (2016) as well as Hezayah Screenwriting Lab (2021). He works as an independent filmmaker and screenwriter and is father to one son.
