I make movies to sort out my inner demons. It's better than an exorcism.
Jo-X Cruz was born in Fort Worth, Texas and raised by two established artists, José Cruz (Freelance Illustrator with works published in Time Magazine, Business Week, etc.) and Michelle Milner (Metals MFA from University of Texas at Arlington and Graphic Design for Star-Telegram, La Estrella, and Fort Worth Weekly).
Jo-X attended the Media Technology Program at Southwest High School. There she filmed live performances as a director/producer. High School sparked her love for filmmaking and she went on to win Best Director in the Media Technology Award show.
Jo-X is pursuing her BFA with a focus in Film/Video at the University of Texas at Arlington. During her undergrad years, she has participated in the Student Film and Video Organization as Public Relations and, eventually, as Vice-President. During her Narrative Film course, she was selected by the faculty as director for one of the shorts entitled Hugo’s Plane. It has been featured on KERA’s Frame of Mind and has, also, been selected into the North Texas Student Film Festival and the Dallas International Film Festival. Her senior film The Grove is currently in post-production.
