A composer of instrumental and mixed music, Jimmie LeBlanc teaches at the Université de Montréal's Faculty of Music. His works have been performed locally and internationally by ensembles such as Contrechamps, the Quasar Quartet, Esprit Orchestra, and many soloists. Recipient of the 3rd prize at the Lutosławski Award in 2008 and the Jules-Léger Prize for new chamber music in 2009, he is currently editor-in-chief of the Revue musicale OICRM, responsible for the Cahiers d'analyse section of the journal Circuit: musiques contemporaines, and his theoretical research revolves around musical semiotics and esthetics in relation to analysis and composition.
