Jennifer Sands was born in Dallas, Texas on July 6, 1986 to the parents of Roy and Beverly Sands. She was raised with four siblings, three brothers and 1 sister. (Donya Brown, Demetra Sands, Carnell Livingston, and Darnell Livingston.) She graduated from Lincoln High School, Humanities Magnet Program. It was there she began to have an interest in radio and television. Jennifer excelled in basketball, starting all 4 years on the varsity program and later earning a 4-year scholarship at Tulane University where she studied Media Arts. It was her junior year at Tulane where she took her first screenwriting class.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Science, she collaborated with Vernon “Snoop” Robinson to write her first stage play, “Torn Between Two Lives,” starring Dave Hollister and Yarbrough and Peoples. She was also an Actress in the stage play “After the Rain, the Sun Will Shine” produced by Kisa Jackson. From that point, Jennifer practiced writing scripts to better her craft. In 2015, Jennifer started her production company, Lucy Mae Media. In 2018, she produced her first production, Gayborhood Dallas, a web series premiering exclusively on YouTube.
In addition to writing, Jennifer got her directing debut while working on the stage-play “The Book Club” produced by Cris Dee. She proceeded to direct another stage plays, “Out of Me” produced by Cris Dee and also “Burning Flame” produced by Corta Productions. Jennifer also helped Co-direct short films including “Unconditional Love”. In 2019, she co-starred in the film “Black Diamond,” which is currently streaming on Tubi and Amazon Prime.
She looks forward to producing her first feature film titled “Tantamount”, which is a sequel to the hit web series Gayboorhood Dallas in addition to many more.
