Jeena is not a fan of talking about herself in the third person, but can’t stop now.
Jeena Bloom is a trangender woman and stand up comedian, dividing her time between Los Angeles and New York. As a comic, she has appeared in New York Magazine, the LA Times as well as being featured on Comedy Central and Vice TV. Transitioning after age of forty, Jeena’s work since then has been largely focused on drawing on the similarities between the two halves of lived experiences as much as the differences between the two phases of her life. Jeena was also raised in poverty to a biracial family, and has drawn on all of these experiences to tell the types of stories only she can tell.
In her pre-transition and pre-standup life, Jeena was an aspiring screenwriter who made a couple of very small, independently financed films. She was never quite happy with the work she made and knew that she had to finally live her life honestly, before the art she created could be honest as well.
Additionally, Jeena has been previewing an hour long solo stage performance about her experiences with re-integrating into her old life post-transition. That show is set to make its premiere at Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2022.
