Jay Jiatong Zhao is an emerging film director and cinematographer based in Sydney, Australia. Born in Shenzhen, China, he became dedicated to visual storytelling as a child and was sent to Sydney, Australia. Graduated from the University of New South Wales, his first student film was released at the Palace Cinema Sydney in 2022. His later works have been the semi-finalist at the Oscar-Qualifying Flicker’s Rhode Island International Film Festival, Winner at the Young Australian Film Festival, while being streamed on Australian TV by C31 Melbourne. Jay became obsessed with high-concept storytelling that explores our sense of belonging and themes in the relationship between individuals and the collective world.
