Javier studied a Bachelor of Arts in Film and Video at Columbia College Chicago. He graduated with honors in 2007.
He premiered his first feature film, "Elvira", at the Morelia International Film Festival in 2009. It was one of the most recognized films of that year. This documentary was in competition and in special screenings at other film festivals in Mexico, South America, the United States and France.
In 2012, his narrative short film, "Playing Grown Up", won the Remi Award at the World-Fest Houston and was recognized as third place in the list of the best short films at the Harlem International Film Festival in New York.
In 2013, he directed "Ti Muxe", winner of the Best Documentary Short at the Toronto International Film and Video Awards and an official selection at the Lucerne International Film Festival and the Oaxaca Film Fest.
Another one of his narrative short films, titled "Between Us" was part of the official selection of the Austin Film Festival and the Blow Up Art House Film Fest in Chicago.
In 2018, he co-wrote and directed the first season of the original thriller and drama series titled "Guardia-Garcia" for Canal Once. Mexico's most prestigious public network.
Javier was the series creator and showrunner.
It began streaming on Prime Video last year.
He's been writing as a freelance screenwriter for various production companies in Mexico, working in television series and feature films.
"Adentro" is his first fiction feature film.
