Jason is a writer, director, and producer from Toronto. His writing and directorial debut short film, I’M NOT A ROBOT, screened at Just For Laughs Eat My Shorts, the Hamilton Film Festival, Forest City Film Festival, and won Best International Film at Portland Comedy Film Festival (2022).

CBC licensed the film for national distribution, as part of their Canadian Reflections network series and CBC Gem (video-on-demand) (July 2023).

While at Just For Laughs, Jason won ComedyPRO's Stand Up & Pitch Competition with his original, in-development sitcom, THE GREAT ESCAPE (2022).

He worked as a professional engineer in Toronto before pursuing a career as a filmmaker and screenwriter.

Currently, Jason is a partner at the independent production company HYST in Toronto, where heproduces projects and heads the creative development of original, narrative content. Led by JasonSpeir, Ben Speir, and Kevin Eade, HYST creates compelling stories that make audiences ask the HYST question: "Have You Seen This?"
