Jane Larkin is a First Nations New Zealander, or Māori of the Rangitāne iwi, raised on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia. As well as being an actor, writer, director and producer, she is an Australian professional elite sprint athlete.
As an actor, Jane is best known for her role in MGM’s THIRTEEN LIVES, directed by Ron Howard; portraying Penny in the Netflix series BOY SWALLOWS UNIVERSE; the Australian road trip mystery series DARBY AND JOAN; and the Netflix film ESCAPE FROM SPIDERHEAD. She cites working with Ron Howard as a career highlight.
Jane’s role in the comedy short film BREAKING UP WITH CORONA earned her and her co-star the Best Romantic Comedy Micro-Film at the Portland Comedy Festival. She credits much of her humour to her neurodiversity, embracing her neurological differences as a kind of superpower.
Behind the camera, Jane has also been the 1st AD on the award-winning short film THE GORGE.
Jane recently show-ran the independent feature film THE EDGE, which she wrote, directed, produced, and starred in. Inspired by her experiences on the Australian and international athletics circuits, the film follows the lives of three female athletes. THE EDGE was selected for the 2025 lineup at the Gold Coast Film Festival before its domestic release on Netflix ANZ.
