The Janakpur International Film Festival (JIFF) 2026 is a dynamic four-day celebration of cinema, culture, musical and storytelling, set in the spiritually and historically rich city of Janakpur. This vibrant festival offers an immersive experience for film lovers, featuring a carefully curated selection of films spanning a wide array of genres, styles, and cultures. From compelling narratives to bold experimental pieces, JIFF brings together stories that reflect the diversity and depth of global cinema.

Beyond film screenings, JIFF hosts engaging panel discussions with directors, actors, producers, and film scholars. These conversations delve into the creative and technical aspects of filmmaking, spotlighting current trends, challenges, and opportunities within the industry. Participants are invited to exchange ideas, gain new perspectives, and connect with voices shaping the future of cinema.

Adding a hands-on dimension, the festival features master classes led by acclaimed filmmakers and industry professionals. These workshops focus on key aspects of the craft such as screenwriting, directing, editing, and cinematography, offering aspiring and emerging filmmakers the chance to build practical skills and creative confidence.

But JIFF is more than a film festival - itโ€™s a cultural movement. As a visionary initiative by the Sambad Foundation, the festival aims to revive and promote cinematic culture while positioning Janakpurdham as a hub for tourism, creativity and cultural heritage.

The program also embraces a wider artistic spectrum, with fine arts exhibitions, traditional music & dance performances, literary readings, musical showcases, and cultural exchanges. These events celebrate the regionโ€™s rich Maithili traditions and foster a space where diverse communities can come together in shared appreciation of art and storytelling.

At its heart, the Janakpur International Film Festival is not just about films, it is a holistic celebration of creativity, storytelling, and cultural identity. It invites everyone - filmmakers, artists, tourists, and locals alike - to participate in a transformative journey through the powerful lens of cinema and the living arts.
