Having led programs and facilitated workshops for youths in high school that explored notions of self, vulnerability and empathy - acknowledging ones own authenticity - I then became drawn to film as a means to visually, and often silently, explore such discoveries in people.
I find myself increasingly interested in the semiotics of images. How the limitless possibilities of the camera's language can synthesise with the spontaneity and intuition of performance – the two working in unison, or in argument, for the amplification of character psychology and narrative rhythm.
I am drawn to how individuals unintentionally, or even intentionally, find themselves provoked and challenged - how these narrow, subjective positions of discomfort can stimulate and trigger surprising responses of growth within people.
