James “SoSoon” Gantt is a New York City Hip-Hop artist, producer, scholar and educator. The moniker SoSoon, an acronym for Sound Of Something Out Of Nothing represents the heart of Hip-Hop culture which was developed by people who had no access to outlets for creative expression.
James currently works as the After School Program Coordinator at Reel Works Teen Filmmaking in Brooklyn, New York where he serves as the liaison for high school age filmmakers and their professional filmmaker mentors.
James' introduction into filmmaking occurred in 2017 when his supervisor suggested he take the documentary filmmaking class alongside the 13 high school students he helped recruit. His film "Silver Arm Nina" won the Audience Choice Award at the 2018 Boulevard Film Festival.
