Jaisyn Passmore is a Chicago area filmmaker, producer, writer, and multidisciplinary media creative whose work is rooted in lived experience, community impact, and cultural storytelling. Emerging from the south suburbs of Chicago, Passmore’s journey into film and media is uniquely shaped by a deep background in public service, education, and grassroots community development, experiences that continue to inform the emotional depth and authenticity of his work.
Before fully stepping into the media space, Passmore built a foundation in civic leadership and youth development. In 2011, he developed a music enrichment program at the Riverdale Park District while simultaneously volunteering with Dolton School District 148 across both music and science departments. His commitment to community advancement led to his election as Park District Commissioner in 2015, where he served as PR and Recreation Chairman, managing public initiatives and strengthening community engagement. During this time, he also transitioned into higher education as a Student Life Assistant at South Suburban College, supporting student services and campus programming.
In 2016, Passmore expanded his public service work with Thornton Township, rising from a temporary role in the Assessor’s Office to Caseworker. His most impactful contribution during this time was spearheading the implementation of HMIS, the Homeless Management Information System, within township operations, an initiative that continues to support efforts addressing homelessness today.
Parallel to his work in public service, Passmore steadily built his creative portfolio through photography, music production, and media development, eventually formalizing his training at Illinois Media School in both Broadcasting and Film. His transition into film has been marked by hands on production experience, collaborative work, and a commitment to narrative storytelling.
Passmore’s film credits include Bird of Prey (2016), Daddy’s Journey (2016), and Seasoned: The Series (2022), with additional on set experience working alongside Cheevies Production on the sequel to the comedic thriller The Clown Dies At Midnight. His work behind the camera reflects a strong understanding of story structure, visual composition, and performance driven narratives.
As a creative, Passmore operates at the intersection of film, music, and culture, developing projects that highlight human complexity, generational impact, and the realities of underrepresented communities. His perspective is both observational and intentional, blending technical skill with emotional intelligence.
From building programs in public institutions to building stories for the screen, Jaisyn Passmore represents a new class of filmmaker, one whose work is not only seen, but felt.
