Jacqualynn “Jai” Harris is an award-winning producer, director, writer, and poet whose work bridges grassroots storytelling and mainstream television. Over the past 17+ years, she has helped shape dozens of series for networks including MTV, BET, HGTV, Lifetime, OWN, WE Tv, TLC, Bravo, E!, Food Network, TV One and more, rising from an editor at PBS in Denver to supervising producer in Los Angeles.
A former member of the nationally ranked Slam Nuba poetry team and a performer at the legendary Apollo Theater, Jai’s voice was forged on stages that center truth, vulnerability, and social justice.
As founder of Free Royalty Productions, Jai develops impact-driven projects that elevate marginalized voices and empower the next generation of storytellers.
Serene and the Magic Seeds: Selected by Dr. Sebi is her most personal work to date—a children’s film and series of books inspired by her real-life quest to find natural healing for her grandmother through Dr. Sebi’s herbs, and her promise to help carry his legacy forward. Drawing on her background in reality TV story producing and her roots in spoken-word poetry, Jai weaves a cinematic love letter to family, faith, and holistic healing, inviting young audiences to believe that knowledge—and love—are forms of magic.
